Film Star Will Emcee, Perform, and Receive the Olympic Torch at This Year’s World Games

LOS ANGELES, CA – Corey Feldman announced today that he will be the official emcee of the Receipt of the Torch Ceremony at the 2015 Special Olympics at the World Games. The ceremony will be conducted this Friday July 24th in downtown Los Angeles on the steps of city hall. Feldman will be seen standing at the podium to receive the Olympic torch and has also been asked to do a very special performance with his band “Corey’s Angels”. Feldman will also be introducing several of LA’s elite including Mayor Garcetti and the chief of police. As far as his band, this marks only the second time the newly formed band will perform, their first performance being in June at the Bonnaroo Festival.

This is a historical event for Los Angeles and for the world as it is the first time in history that the Special Olympics has been recognized as part of the World Games. Ironically, Corey Feldman performed at the1990 Special Olympics exactly twenty-five years ago. At that time he performed a song which he had just written a few years earlier when he was fifteen years old about making the world a better place.  That song was called “It’s So Simple” and he is planning on performing that song again to commemorate how far we all have come.

When asked for a comment on his performance at this year’s games, Corey Feldman had this to say, “It is truly an honor to be asked to stand on the steps and perform at this historical event. More importantly I’m humbled to honor these tremendous athletes that God has created.”

Corey is expected to perform two songs and attendance of the event is open to the public. Corey and his Angels will soon do a world tour to promote his forthcoming Album “Angelic 2 The Core”.
