When rumors were circulating that Corey Feldmans band, Truth Movement, were coming to town, most of us were interested or curious. Unsure of what we were getting into, my friends and I picked up tickets. After hearing I had won the VIP contest, I left work and headed to sound check. Corey instantly asked me to stand up, eyeing me for his robot costume. Realizing I'd be part of the show was a bit unnerving, but also exciting. After going over our cues, I got some food and returned later for the show.
Most people at the show were unsure of what they were about to witness. The lights dimmed and fog filled the stage. A video projected onto the screen, and people began moving up to the stage in anticipation. As Corey slowly made his way to the stage, the crowd became more and more excited. Finally the band began the first song from their album “Technology Analogy”, and they had the crowd won over already. As the band continued though the concept album in order, the small crowd was treated to a big stage production never before seen in such an intimate setting. Laser lights, smoke, robots, and beach balls danced across the stage as the band ripped through a tight set of Pink Floyd inspired music. What may have been even more impressive was this show was done with a last minute replacement on bass. After Corey and the band began to wind down, they brought the mood right back up with a great cover of the Pink Floyd classic “Time”. With an eccentric front man in Corey Feldman, and a band full of talent, you'll be pressed to find a bigger show put together in such a tiny package. Corey Feldman and Truth Movement are taking this show on the road, leaving behind a night to remember.
After the show, my friends and I chatted with the band, picked up some merch, and boarded the bus to hang out with Corey for a bit. I couldn't believe I was sitting on a tour bus with someone I watched so often growing up. Going through my movie collection, I kept pulling out dvds that I loved starring Corey. Gremlins, Lost Boys, Stand by Me, Friday the 13th The Final Chapter, Goonies, License to Drive, just to name a few. I thought to myself “I own an action figure of the guy I'm talking to”. It was a surreal experience, and it meant so much to me to sit and discuss the Lost Boys: The Thirst trailer with Corey. The entire band was genuine and nice, asking my friends and I what we thought of the show. Corey took time to take pictures and sign our stuff. As it began to get late, we bid our farewells and let the band hit the road for the next show, leaving a memory that I'll never forget. Thanks to everyone involved, hope to see the band come back soon.
